Protect Retiree Health Benefits: Under the Radar, UC Tries to Cut Retiree Health Benefits
Without consulting the UC-wide retiree organizations or the Academic Senate or Staff Assemblies, the Office of the President placed a proposal to “Rescind the 70 Percent Floor for the University’s Aggregate Annual Contribution to the Retiree Health Benefit Program” on the Board of Regents Finance and Capital Strategies Committee agenda in July. This proposal was postponed to the November 15-16 Regents meetings, thanks to vigorous opposition from retiree, emeriti, faculty and staff organizations, but the fight is not over. (Read more)
